Burns, Brews, and Bowie
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne!
Some of the most well known words in Western culture which have become associated with a holiday rather than the man who wrote them. But, not to worry BURNS NIGHT is alive and well around the UK and especially at The Beer Boutique.
Last Sunday we paired up with Tempest Brewery – located on the boarders of Scotland our customers may know them by their best selling beers; Long White Cloud, Brave New World, the list goes on. Ticketed guests were treated to tastings of eleven different beers, lead by the awesome Graham, with the highlight being Old Parochial: an imperial strength barrel aged scotch ale, a debut here at The Beer Boutique, and one passers by could win in thirds whilst partaking in our famous haggis toss.
Haggis, Jelly, Basket Ball Hoop . . . use your messiest imagination.
Perhaps the highlight of the evening was Jon Stone and Abigail Parry – local poets – who honored both Burns and Bowie in reciting a megamash of the two iconic artists’ words.
Truly my words cannot describe the scene, but you can see for your self.
Mars Bars, Tea Cakes, Haggis, Chips, Beer, Burns, Poetry . . . if this sounds right up your ally, not to worry we hold the event annually!
In the mean time
You should pop in to enjoy Old Parochial which, in our opinion, is developing beautifully on our tap with the scotch flavors becoming even more bold. Why not bring a growler?
